COVID-19 Counselling Services
In the event of school closure, I am offering virtual Guidance Appointments with a focus on wellness, problem solving, social skills, and building resiliency. Please click the link below to book a a 10-30 minute appointment for your child.
School Counselors can help students dealing with mild anxiety, personal issues such as stress management, and offer supportive strategies for maintaining good mental health and well-being during the COVID-19 crisis.

Regular Guidance Programming
Please note that services are open to all students. Groups are available on a needs basis. Please inquire with Mrs. Short if you have any questions. You may sign your child up for a program through your child's teacher or by contacting Mrs. Short by phone, email, or written correspondence.
Bee BuddiesAny new students, who arrive at any time throughout the year, will be set up with a Buddy Leader. The "Buddy Leader" is responsible for welcoming the "newbie", showing them around, and they have special recess times throughout the week to spend playing games and getting to know the new student. (K-5)
Anxiety (Skill Building)Students will learn what anxiety is, what it feels/looks like, and learn a variety of strategies to decrease anxiety. (K-5)
Rainbows (Grief/Loss)Rainbows is a program about grief and loss of a loved one through death, separation, and divorce. It can be a recent loss or as far back as a few years. (K-5)
Parents Away Working Support (P.A.W.S.)Parents Away Working Support is for students who have parents who work far from home for long periods of time. It is a time to meet with other students who have similar experiences and to gain new coping skills to help ease the separation. (K-5)

Remote Control Club (Self Control)A fun, hands-on way to teach self control to ADHD, or just plain bouncy, students. (gr. 2-5)
Volcanoes (Anger Management)The Volcanoes program is an anger management program for children that normalizes angry feelings, explains where angry feelings come from, and how to cope in a healthy way with anger. (gr. 2-5)
ZONES of Regulation (Multi-skill)This self-regulation program's purpose is to build social, emotional, and self regulation skills to allow them to be more flexible thinkers. ZONES incorporates teachings from Superflex & Incredible 5 Point Scale. (gr. 3-5)
Incredible, Flexible You (Multi-skill)This self-regulation program's purpose is to build social, emotional, and self regulation skills in young children. It incorporates play, story books, and music to target a younger audience. (gr. K-3)

Girl Power (Social Skills)This is for older girls who require guidance in understanding: how to be a friend to make a friend, navigate difficult peer relationships, and how to handle bullying within a friendship. (gr. 3-5)
Go - Girls (Self-Esteem Building)Girls self esteem building group. These girls meet with teen mentors once a week at lunch time to learn about issues girls face in middle & high school, and to learn resiliency skills. (gr. 5 only)
Games Club (Social Skills)This is for students who find the playground to be a little overwhelming and they need a smaller environment to play with others to build friendship skills (11:30 - 12:00 one - two times per week). Students in this group may invite a friend to come with them on their game day. (K-5)
Buddy Building (Social Skills)Younger students will be learning & practicing social interaction skills (social skills). (K-3)
